“Summer Camp” was recently introduced to the TASAAGA OVC Primary School in Sitabaale in an effort to provide all of the children in the village with an opportunity to have fun during their holidays in a less academically-structured environment.
Favourite camp activities have included Story-time, Musical Chairs and Bingo. Excursions to play soccer and net ball are also a “hit” with the kids as well as field trips for community service (collecting rubbish, helping seniors collect water, etc). It has been most rewarding is to see these kids unleash their imaginations and creative talents with clay-moulding (cultivated from the local swamp) and weaving (using dried banana tree fibre).
